More than 1,000 Instructors Receive Training and ICDL Certification in Colombia
Instructors at the Servicio Nacional de Aprendizaje (SENA) National School of Instructors are receiving ICT skills training thanks to a cooperation between the National Learning Service, SENA and ICDL Colombia. 1,000 SENA instructors in seven Colombian cities, were trained and certified using ICDL during December 2015 as part of a pilot.
The trained instructors belong to a range of different sectors, including mining, agriculture, livestock, IT and health. After this first stage, the process will be replicated for all instructors, with the aim of closing the digital gap around the country.
At the same time, the project aimed to deliver a ‘Train the Trainer’ programme for 20 SENA instructors, with the objective of setting up SENA Training Centres as ICDL Accredited Test Centres in different cities. This was done with the goal of helping communities to have access to digital skills certification with the internationally recognised ICDL certificate.
SENA, affiliated with the Ministry of Labour, promotes the development of workplace skills for the population in Colombia, providing free training to millions of citizens who benefit from programmes that focus on the economic, technological and social development of the country, based on the National Government’s goals.
