ICDL Asia Meets With Directors from Vietnam Ministry of Information and Communications
Members of the ICDL Asia team, including General Manager, Tina Wu, met directors from the Vietnamese Department of Information Technology, part of the country’s Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) at the end of January.
MIC has recently mapped ICDL’s certification program syllabus to the local digital competence syllabus for Vietnam, cited in the Appendix of the Circular No. 03 issued in March 2014 by the MIC. The recognition proves the relevance of ICDL to the needs of a fast growing information technology landscape in Vietnam. It also reinforces the truly global nature of the ICDL syllabus.
The meeting, which took place on 25 January, was effective in strengthening ties between both parties, which could lead to closer partnership in the future. Tina Wu delivered a presentation introducing the achievements of ICDL, both globally and within Vietnam. Discussion of how to advocate digital literacy at the strategic level, as well as at the practical implementation level, took place and Dao Dinh Kha, Director-General of the Department of Information Technology, shared some tentative projects and plans that MIC are preparing to publicise in the near future.
Both parties look forward to working hand in hand to achieve the mission of upskilling the Vietnamese workforce through digital literacy and workplace efficiency.
